Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KYAN-001 is a selective Class II histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor that specifically targets histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) and histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6). Originally developed by Georgetown University and licensed to KYAN Technologies (formerly KYAN Therapeutics), this small molecule candidate is designed to inhibit HDAC4 nucleoshuttling and HDAC6 activity. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that KYAN-001 exhibits high efficacy and low toxicity compared to pan-HDAC inhibitors. Utilizing the Optim.AI platform, KYAN-001 has shown synergistic anti-cancer effects when combined with MEK inhibitors in KRAS-mutant solid tumors, such as prostate and pancreatic cancers, as well as monotherapy efficacy in multiple myeloma and patient-derived organoids.
