Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kyinsu is a once-weekly, fixed-dose injectable combination drug developed by Novo Nordisk for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It contains two active substances: insulin icodec, a long-acting basal insulin analogue that regulates glucose metabolism by binding to insulin receptors, and semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that modulates insulin and glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Delivered via a prefilled pen, Kyinsu is indicated as an adjunct to diet, exercise, and oral antidiabetic medications for patients whose glycemic control is insufficiently managed with basal insulin or GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy alone. The combination has been approved in South Korea and Brazil, and authorized in the European Union, supported by the Phase III COMBINE clinical trial program.
