Kynex

Kynex is a brand name associated with two distinct therapeutic agents. Historically, it referred to sulfamethoxypyridazine, a long-acting sulfonamide antibiotic used for bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections and meningococcal meningitis. More recently, the name has been used for sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) products. In this context, it is a high molecular weight polysaccharide biologic used as a viscosupplement for the treatment of osteoarthritis pain, particularly in the knee, and as an ophthalmic lubricant for dry eye syndrome.
