The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of PREP, an enzyme that has been shown to accelerate the aggregation of **alpha-synuclein**, a protein central to the pathology of Parkinson's. By inhibiting PREP, KYP-2047 can reduce the formation of toxic alpha-synuclein oligomers and enhance autophagic clearance.
