Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This investigational L-amino acid mixture is being developed by the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in India for the prevention of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing live donor liver transplantation (LDLT). The intervention involves a continuous intravenous infusion of the mixture at a dose of 2 g/kg dry body weight per day (up to 100 g/day) for 72 hours, starting after anesthesia induction. The biological objective is to mitigate ischemia/reperfusion injury and preserve renal function during the critical perioperative period of liver transplantation. The efficacy of this nutritional intervention is currently being evaluated in a prospective, open-label, randomized controlled trial.
