Overview

l-Corydalmine is a tetrahydroprotoberberine alkaloid isolated from the traditional Chinese medicinal plant *Corydalis yanhusuo*. It is currently being developed by Beijing Taizhou Lize Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. as a potential treatment for methamphetamine addiction. The compound functions primarily as an antagonist of dopamine D1 and D2 receptors, thereby modulating the mesolimbic dopaminergic pathway which is critical for the reinforcing effects of psychostimulants. By inhibiting these receptors, l-corydalmine aims to reduce drug craving and prevent relapse in individuals with substance use disorders. Clinical evaluation has progressed to Phase 1 trials in China, where it is being studied for safety and efficacy in reducing methamphetamine dependence.
