Overview

L-Glu-L-Trp is a synthetic dipeptide composed of L-glutamic acid and L-tryptophan joined by a peptide bond. It is also known by the code name EW and the brand name Timogen. The compound is typically formulated as a white powder, soluble in water and DMF, and is insoluble in chloroform and ether. It has been investigated as a pharmaceutical agent with immunomodulatory properties, and preclinical studies indicate that it is not toxic even at high doses. L-Glu-L-Trp may act on the immune system, but its precise molecular mechanism of action is not fully elucidated. It is administered intramuscularly, intravenously, or intranasally[5][7].
