Drug intelligence / Profile preview
L-Panto is a generic fixed-dose combination medication developed and marketed by Lloyd Healthcare, primarily indicated for the management of pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders. It contains two active pharmaceutical ingredients: lornoxicam and pantoprazole. Lornoxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class that provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby reducing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretion. The inclusion of pantoprazole in this formulation is intended to mitigate the risk of NSAID-induced gastric mucosal injury and gastrointestinal irritation, making it suitable for patients requiring long-term pain management for conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
