Drug intelligence / Profile preview
L-tyrosine adsorbed for hymenoptera venom is a subcutaneous allergen extract immunotherapy (SCIT) developed by Anallergo for the treatment of Hymenoptera (insect) venom allergy. The product consists of standardized Hymenoptera venom allergen extracts (such as honeybee, wasp, polistine wasp, and European hornet) adsorbed onto L-tyrosine, which acts as a depot adjuvant carrier. This adsorption provides a slow-release ('retard') mechanism that gradually releases the allergen from the injection site, improving tolerability compared to aqueous formulations. By administering repeated subcutaneous injections of the venom allergen, the therapy induces immune tolerance and desensitizes patients, thereby reducing the risk of systemic anaphylactic reactions upon subsequent insect stings.
