Overview

L. fermentum SJ06 cell extract is a substance derived from the probiotic strain Limosilactobacillus fermentum SJ06, which was isolated from mule milk. It is being investigated for its potential anticancer and therapeutic activities, particularly in the context of colorectal cancer. Studies have shown that this cell extract, when used alone or in combination with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), can decrease the viability and induce apoptosis in human colon cancer cells (HT-29). Furthermore, it demonstrates a protective effect on normal human cells (HEK-293) against the cytotoxic effects of 5-FU, enhancing their viability and reducing apoptosis. The extract also appears to enhance anti-tumor immunity by increasing the levels of key cytokines such as IL-17A, IFN-γ, and TNF-α.
