Overview
L. reuteri Prodentis is an oral probiotic product developed and marketed by BioGaia. [1] It is formulated as a lozenge containing two patented strains of *Lactobacillus reuteri*: *L. reuteri* DSM 17938 and *L. reuteri* ATCC PTA 5289. [1, 8, 10] The product works through multiple mechanisms, including producing antimicrobial substances (like reuterin), exerting anti-inflammatory properties, and competitively colonizing oral tissues to restore a healthy microbial balance. [11, 13] It is marketed to treat and prevent various oral health conditions, including gingivitis, periodontitis, halitosis (bad breath), plaque, peri-implant disease, and oral Candida infections. [13, 15]
