L2-01 adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells are autologous or first-degree blood relative sourced adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) developed by L2 Bio. The product consists of stem cells harvested from a patient’s own adipose tissue or a close relative, processed and expanded ex vivo, and delivered intravenously. These cells are used for their immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, particularly for the treatment of Crohn’s Disease. The therapy is notable for its potentially high safety profile, very low risk of rejection, and personalized HLA/DNA matching when using autologous or relative donor tissue. L2 Bio has received FDA approval to conduct a Phase 2B clinical trial in Crohn’s Disease. The cells function by reducing inflammatory responses and inducing regulatory T cells, likely through the secretion of soluble factors such as IL-10, TGF-β, PGE2, and others. L2 Bio is leading the clinical development and banking of these ADSCs for therapeutic use[1][2][4].
