L2G7 is a potent neutralizing monoclonal antibody specifically designed to target human hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). By binding to HGF, L2G7 prevents the ligand from interacting with its cognate receptor, c-Met (mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor), thereby effectively blocking the HGF/c-Met signaling axis. This pathway is a well-characterized driver of tumor progression, promoting cell proliferation, survival, motility, and angiogenesis. In preclinical models of lung cancer, L2G7 has demonstrated the ability to inhibit HGF-induced downstream signaling (such as P-MAPK induction), reduce tumor cell invasion, and significantly decrease tumor burden by suppressing proliferation and inducing apoptosis. It is primarily investigated for its potential in the prevention and treatment of HGF-dependent malignancies, particularly lung cancer.
