Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lab4b is a proprietary multi-strain probiotic consortium developed by Cultech, consisting of four specific strains of lactic acid bacteria: Lactobacillus acidophilus (CUL60 and CUL21), Bifidobacterium bifidum (CUL20), and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (CUL34). It is specifically formulated for use in pregnancy and early infancy to support the development of a healthy gut microbiome and immune system. In clinical research, such as the PROSYNK trial, Lab4b has been evaluated for its ability to reduce chronic systemic inflammation (CSI) and improve biomarkers of environmental enteric dysfunction (EED) in infants living in high-risk environments. The formulation is available as a standalone probiotic or as a synbiotic when combined with prebiotic fructooligosaccharides (FOS).
