LABP-73 is an oral small molecule drug that acts as an agonist of the NLRX1 pathway. It is being developed for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drug targets NLRX1, a mitochondria-associated receptor involved in down-regulating inflammation during bacterial and viral exposure, colitis, multiple sclerosis, and chronic pulmonary disease. By activating NLRX1, LABP-73 aims to address both epithelial and immune dysfunctions to resolve neutrophil inflammation, improve pulmonary function, and potentially reverse underlying fibrosis in respiratory diseases. The compound is currently in preclinical development. Originally developed by Landos Biopharma (now a subsidiary of AbbVie), it represents a novel approach to treating inflammatory airway diseases[1][2][4][5].
