Lacidophilin is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of live *Lactobacillus* (typically *Lactobacillus acidophilus*). It is used as a probiotic to restore the natural microbial flora of the vaginal and endometrial environments. In clinical applications, particularly in reproductive medicine, it is administered vaginally to correct dysbiosis, which is characterized by a decrease in *Lactobacillus* species and an overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria. By producing lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins, lacidophilin helps maintain an acidic environment (low pH) that is conducive to healthy tissue function and successful embryo implantation. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for its potential to improve pregnancy rates in women experiencing recurrent implantation failure (RIF) during assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures like IVF and ICSI.
