Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lacrifill is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid canalicular gel indicated for the temporary occlusion of the canalicular system to treat dry eye disease. It acts as an intracanilicular occlusive device, physically blocking tear drainage and thereby increasing tear retention on the ocular surface. The product is administered via an in-office procedure and provides sustained relief from dry eye symptoms for up to six months. Clinical studies have demonstrated its safety and efficacy, with significant improvements in Schirmer scores, tear break-up time (TBUT), and patient-reported outcomes. The device was originally developed by Visant Medical in partnership with Symatese SAS, later acquired by Nordic Pharma (a subsidiary of Nordic Group B.V.), which now markets it in the United States[1][3][4][6].
