Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lacticaseibacillus casei LC2W (L.casei LC2W) is a proprietary probiotic strain developed by Bright Dairy & Food Co., Ltd. [4, 6] It is a live biotherapeutic product being investigated for its health benefits. Clinical studies have shown that oral administration of L.casei LC2W can provide significant benefits for weight control, glucose and lipid metabolism, and reduce inflammatory and oxidative stress parameters. [1, 6] The mechanism is believed to involve modulating the gut microbiota, which in turn ameliorates gut inflammation and promotes glucose and lipid degradation pathways. [1, 6] For instance, it has been shown to enrich the abundance of beneficial bacteria like Lacticaseibacillus and Bifidobacterium. [1, 6] The strain has also demonstrated potential in preventing colitis, inhibiting the colonization of pathogenic bacteria like E. coli O157:H7, and exhibiting anti-hypertensive bioactivity. [1, 8, 12] Bright Dairy incorporates this strain into some of its yogurt products. [3, 4, 5]
