Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus extract refers to a preparation derived from the L. rhamnosus species, a Gram-positive, non-pathogenic, probiotic bacterium commonly found in the gastrointestinal tract and widely used in dietary supplements, functional foods, and research. The species, formerly classified as Lactobacillus rhamnosus, is known for its beneficial effects on intestinal health, modulation of the immune system, and inhibition of pathogenic bacteria. Extracts typically contain either live, heat-killed, or lysed bacterial cells and/or their metabolic byproducts, and are marketed for digestive support, mitigation of antibiotic-associated or infection-related diarrhea, reduction of eczema in children, and enhancement of overall gut barrier integrity. The mechanism of action is primarily microbiome modulation, competitive inhibition of pathogens, immune support, and promotion of epithelial barrier function, including upregulation of tight junction proteins and metabolic modulation of host signaling pathways[1][2][3][6][7].
