Drug intelligence / Profile preview
*Lactiplantibacillus plantarum* DMC-26 is a specific probiotic strain belonging to the species *L. plantarum* (formerly *Lactobacillus plantarum*). Developed by Daesang Corporation, this strain has been investigated primarily for its anti-obesity and metabolic regulatory properties. In preclinical studies, DMC-26 has demonstrated the ability to reduce body weight gain, white adipose tissue accumulation, and serum lipid levels in high-fat diet-induced obese models. Its mechanism of action involves the downregulation of key adipogenic transcription factors, such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) and CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein alpha (C/EBPα), while potentially activating the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway to enhance lipid metabolism and energy expenditure.
