Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GMNL-661 is a probiotic strain of *Lactiplantibacillus plantarum* (formerly *Lactobacillus plantarum*) developed by GenMont Biotech Incorporation. Administered orally in capsule or sachet form, it is intended to support gut health and gastrointestinal wellness. The strain's mechanism of action involves modulating the gut microbiota, enhancing the integrity of the intestinal barrier, and reducing gut inflammation. Preclinical research in murine models has demonstrated its potential in alleviating *Clostridioides difficile* infection (CDI) by reconfiguring the intestinal microbiome to increase the abundance of beneficial bacteria while suppressing pathogens. The strain has shown strong anti-*C. difficile* activity and tolerance to digestive challenges in vitro.
