Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum IMC 510 is a specific probiotic strain developed by Synbiotec S.r.l. for the management of obesity and overweight. As a live biotherapeutic product, it functions by modulating the composition and metabolic activity of the gut microbiota. Clinical evidence indicates that daily supplementation leads to significant reductions in body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, and fasting blood glucose levels. These effects are associated with an increase in beneficial bacteria such as Succiniclasticum spp. and a decrease in potentially pro-obese genera like Hafnia-Obesumbacterium and Romboutsia, as well as a reduction in the Firmicutes/Bacteroidota ratio.
