Overview

Lactiplantibacillus plantarum Lb41 is a specific strain of the lactic acid bacterium Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, isolated from kimchi and characterized for its probiotic properties. It demonstrates high viability under gastric and bile acid conditions, strong adhesion to intestinal epithelial cells, resistance to several antibiotics, and a lack of β-glucuronidase production. Lb41 exhibits antiproliferative effects on certain cancer cell lines and reduces nitric oxide production by macrophages, indicating potential immunomodulatory properties. This strain has been studied for use as a probiotic in foods, such as cottage cheese, where it maintains high levels of viable bacteria without altering physicochemical characteristics of the carrier food. Its main mechanism is the modulation of the gut microbiome and beneficial interaction with host immune and digestive processes[1].
