Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum Lp05 is a specific probiotic strain of live bacteria developed and manufactured by Wecare Probiotics Co., Ltd. [2-14, 4-13] It is classified as a probiotic biologic (live microorganism) and is being researched for its therapeutic potential. [2-14, 4-13] Clinical and preclinical studies are investigating its use in treating Helicobacter pylori infections and protecting against ethanol-induced liver injury. [1-4, 2-1, 4-3] The proposed mechanism of action involves modulating the gut microbiota, suppressing H. pylori through direct interaction, and consequently reducing associated inflammation and oxidative stress. [1-4, 2-6] Although it is being investigated for specific medical applications, as a probiotic strain, it is also available for use in dietary supplements and food products.
