Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum Lp815 is a probiotic bacterial strain identified for its high capacity to produce gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) within the human gastrointestinal tract. Developed by Lallemand Health Solutions, this live biotherapeutic product is designed to modulate the GABAergic system via the gut-brain axis. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of mild to moderate anxiety and sleep disturbances, such as insomnia. Clinical studies (NCT06466603, NCT06789718) investigate its ability to reduce anxiety symptoms and improve both subjective and objective sleep outcomes through daily oral administration of 5 billion colony-forming units (CFU).
