Overview

Lactiplantibacillus plantarum LRCC5195 is a specific bacterial strain, often utilized in the form of paraprobiotics (heat-killed bacteria, designated LP5195-P), developed for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). The strain functions by modulating the gut microbiota, increasing microbial diversity, and significantly altering the levels of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). These microbiome-driven changes lead to systemic immune regulation, characterized by the downregulation of Th2 and Treg-related gene expression in both the skin and the ileum. Additionally, LRCC5195 demonstrates inhibitory effects on histamine release and β-hexosaminidase activity, thereby alleviating clinical symptoms of dermatitis such as edema and erythema. It is primarily developed by the Lotte R&D Center.
