Lactiplantibacillus plantarum UALp-05 (also known as UALp-05™ or Lpla33™) is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria being investigated for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D). It is a live microorganism that represents a biologic modality. The proposed mechanism of action involves the inhibition of pathogenic bacteria such as E. coli, which helps to alleviate gastrointestinal symptoms like abdominal pain and bloating.
