Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactoactive is a probiotic dietary supplement formulated to support gastrointestinal health and maintain a balanced intestinal microflora. It typically contains a combination of live bacterial strains, most commonly *Lactobacillus acidophilus* (LA-5) and *Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis* (BB-12). These beneficial microorganisms function by colonizing the gut, where they compete with pathogenic bacteria for nutrients and adhesion sites on the intestinal mucosa. Furthermore, they produce organic acids, such as lactic acid, which lower the local pH and create an environment inhibitory to the growth of harmful pathogens. Lactoactive is primarily used to alleviate symptoms of digestive discomfort, support the immune system, and restore gut health following antibiotic treatment.
