Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 is a specific probiotic strain developed and patented by Wecare Probiotics Co. Ltd. (Jiangsu, China). It is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) preserved at the China General Microbiological Culture Collection Center (CGMCC No. 21802). LA85 has been investigated for multiple therapeutic applications, including the prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD), treatment of ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease, and reduction of blood lipids. The strain works through multiple mechanisms, including modulation of gut microbiota diversity, regulation of immune responses via the TLR4/NF-κB and Notch signaling pathways, enhancement of intestinal barrier function, and pathogen antagonism. Clinical trials have evaluated its efficacy at doses of 2 × 10^9 CFU/day for preventing amoxicillin-associated diarrhea, particularly in younger populations.
