Overview
Lactobacillus acidophilus Rosell-52 (reclassified as Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell-52) is a probiotic bacterial strain developed by Lallemand Health Solutions (Institut Rosell). It is a well-characterized strain deposited at the Institut Pasteur (CNCM I-1722). The strain is primarily used to support gastrointestinal health and has been clinically studied for its ability to reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea, mitigate stress-induced abdominal pain, and improve immune response. Its mechanism involves competitive exclusion of pathogens, enhancement of the intestinal epithelial barrier, and modulation of the gut-brain axis and immune system. It is frequently formulated in combination products like Lacidofil and Probio'Stick.
