Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus casei CAAS36 is a specific probiotic strain being studied for its potential to treat hyperlipidemia. [1-1] It was isolated from traditional homemade dairy products in Inner Mongolia, China. [1-19, 1-15] As a probiotic, it is believed to work by modulating the composition and metabolic pathways of the gut microbiota. [1-15] In preclinical studies, administration of L. casei CAAS36 resulted in significant reductions in key lipid markers, including a 29.9% decrease in total cholesterol, a 29.4% decrease in LDL-C, and a 32.6% decrease in triglycerides. [1-4] The research is being conducted by academic institutions in China, and there is currently no commercial developer or brand name associated with this strain.
