Lactobacillus casei KE-99 is a patented probiotic strain developed and marketed by U.S. Pharmaceutical Corporation. It is a live biotherapeutic product characterized by its high affinity for intestinal attachment to Caco-2 cells and its ability to reduce the production of toxic sulfide and ammonia compounds within the gastrointestinal tract. The strain is indicated for the management of digestive symptoms such as occasional constipation, gas, bloating, and diarrhea by restoring the balance of the intestinal microbiome and competitively inhibiting the growth and attachment of pathogenic organisms like Escherichia coli O157:H7. It is the active ingredient in the Restora line of products, which includes a dietary supplement enhanced with omega-3 fatty acids and a prescription formulation (Restora RX) that includes folic acid.
