Overview

Lactobacillus complex is a probiotic formulation typically composed of multiple live bacterial strains, most commonly including *Lactobacillus acidophilus*, *Lactobacillus bulgaricus*, and *Streptococcus thermophilus*. As a microbial therapy, it is designed to restore and maintain a healthy balance of gut microbiota. The preparation works by competitively inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria, producing organic acids (such as lactic acid) that lower intestinal pH, and enhancing the mucosal barrier function. In clinical research, particularly at Beijing Anzhen Hospital, it has been evaluated for its potential to mitigate small intestinal mucosal injury induced by enteric-coated aspirin, a common complication of long-term antiplatelet therapy. By modulating the gut microbiome, the complex aims to reduce inflammation and promote the healing of aspirin-related intestinal lesions.
