Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HKP301 is a probiotic health functional food product being developed by Hankook Korus Pharm for the prevention of bone diseases, such as osteoporosis. The active ingredient is Lactobacillus curvatus WiKim38, a probiotic bacterial strain originally isolated from kimchi. The product's mechanism of action involves the inhibition of RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation. Research has demonstrated that the cell-free culture supernatant of L. curvatus WiKim38 decreases the activation of the TRAF6/NF-κB/MAPKs signaling axis and reduces the expression of genes associated with osteoclastogenesis. In preclinical studies using ovariectomized mice, a model for postmenopausal osteoporosis, administration of the strain's culture supernatant was shown to increase bone volume and bone mineral density.
