Overview

lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus TCI904 is a specific probiotic bacterial strain isolated from naturally fermented milk. It is a lactic acid bacterium commonly used in yogurt production but developed as a probiotic ingredient for oral use. In animal models (mice), oral administration of TCI904 demonstrated reduction in fat and body weight accumulation, modulation of innate immunity (especially fecal IgA increase), improvement in metabolic indicators such as insulin resistance and lipid profiles, and linked anxiety reduction in high-fat diet-induced obesity. The mechanism of action primarily involves pancreatic lipase inhibition, immunomodulation (including enhancement of mucosal IgA), and potential metabolic effects, possibly including effects on gut microbiota and inflammatory signaling pathways. It was developed and studied by TCI Co. and academic partners. Safety for human oral consumption at recommended doses was demonstrated in animal studies[1].
