Overview

Lactobacillus gasseri LBV150 is a specific strain of *Lactobacillus gasseri*, a Gram-positive, lactic acid-producing bacterium commonly found in the human vaginal and gastrointestinal microbiome. This strain is recognized for its probiotic activity, maintaining microflora balance in the vagina and gut through inhibition of pathogenic bacteria such as *Gardnerella vaginalis*, *Candida albicans*, *Escherichia coli*, and *Salmonella enteritidis*[1][3]. Mechanistically, it exerts its effects by producing lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins, which inhibit pathogen growth, as well as by strong adhesion to epithelial cells that outcompete pathogen colonization[1][3]. It is administered for restoring vaginal microflora following bacterial vaginosis, and potentially for gut health, constipation, and prevention/treatment of vaginitis. The strain is considered safe and is available for both oral and vaginal administration[1][2][4].
