Overview
Lactobacillus johnsonii MH-68 is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria that has been investigated for its potential health benefits, particularly in managing Helicobacter pylori infections. [2] Studies have shown that this strain can suppress the viability and growth of H. pylori, reduce its colonization in the gastric mucosa, and inhibit the urease activity of the pathogen. [2] The mechanism of action involves modulating the host's immune response by reducing the expression of inflammatory chemokines and lymphocyte infiltration associated with H. pylori-induced gastritis. [2, 12] In animal models, administration of L. johnsonii MH-68 led to a decrease in H. pylori load. [2] It is considered a live biotherapeutic product and is typically administered orally for its effects on the gastrointestinal system. [2, 8]
