Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus paracasei GM080 (reclassified as Lacticaseibacillus paracasei GM-080) is a probiotic strain developed by GenMont Biotech Inc. for the treatment of allergic diseases. Originally isolated from the human gastrointestinal tract and deposited under accession number CCTCC M 204012, the strain is investigated in both live and heat-treated forms. Its primary mechanism of action involves the modulation of the host immune system, specifically by inducing the secretion of Th1-type cytokines such as interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-12 (IL-12). This shift in the Th1/Th2 balance makes it a candidate for managing atopic dermatitis and allergic rhinitis. Clinical evaluation has been supported by GenMont and partners like Société des Produits Nestlé.
