Overview

**Lactobacillus paracasei GMNL-653** is a specific probiotic strain with demonstrated anti-inflammatory, anti-osteoporotic, and skin health-promoting effects, primarily studied in heat-killed form. It reduces LPS-stimulated IL-6 and NO production in macrophages, inhibits osteoclast-related RANKL expression while enhancing TGF-β and IL-10, restores gut microbiota dysbiosis, maintains intestinal barrier integrity, and protects against ovariectomy-induced bone loss in mice by modulating the gut-bone axis.[1] Additionally, it co-aggregates with scalp fungi like *Malassezia furfur*, inhibits fungal biofilm formation via lipoteichoic acid, upregulates hair growth factors (IGF-1R, VEGF, KGF) in fibroblasts and keratinocytes, and shifts scalp microbiota to improve sebum, dandruff, and hair health when incorporated into shampoos.[2] It also shows potential in psoriasis treatment by suppressing IL-6 and IL-17 cytokines, wound healing, and topical skin repair.[3][4][6] Developed by GenMont Biotech, it is positioned as a safe, non-viable postbiotic for applications in bone health, dermatology, and scalp care.
