Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus plantarum 1008 (also known as Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 1008 or LP1008) is a Gram-positive probiotic bacterial strain originally isolated from fermented Taiwanese pickled cabbage. Developed by SynbioTech, LP1008 has been investigated for its potential therapeutic benefits in age-related cognitive impairment, skeletal muscle atrophy, and obesity-induced male reproductive dysfunction (hypogonadism). Preclinical studies demonstrate that LP1008 supplementation can improve blood cholesterol, insulin resistance, and hepatic function, while enhancing testicular antioxidant capacity, restoring testosterone biosynthesis, and improving sperm quality. It acts by modulating the gut microbiota, reducing systemic inflammation, and suppressing oxidative stress, apoptosis, and autophagy in target tissues.
