Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LABTHERA-001 is an investigational live biotherapeutic product containing the probiotic strain *Lactobacillus plantarum* ATG-K2, which was originally isolated from Kimchi. [3] Developed by AtoGen (a subsidiary of Yuhan Corporation), it is formulated as an intravaginal capsule for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV). [1, 4, 9, 12] In preclinical studies, ATG-K2 demonstrated the ability to inhibit the growth and biofilm formation of *Gardnerella vaginalis*, a primary pathogen in BV. [8] A Phase 1 clinical trial has been completed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and acceptability of LABTHERA-001 in healthy female volunteers. [1, 4]
