Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus plantarum CCFM8610 is a specific probiotic strain developed by researchers at Jiangnan University and marketed under brands like HelpGut®. [11, 18] It is being investigated for several therapeutic applications. A clinical trial showed that in patients with atopic dermatitis, it can reduce disease severity (SCORAD index), modulate the immune system by increasing anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 levels, and beneficially alter the gut microbiota composition. [14] It is also being studied for its potential to inhibit Helicobacter pylori infection. Additionally, preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated its ability to protect against cadmium toxicity by binding the heavy metal in the intestine, reducing its absorption and tissue accumulation, and mitigating oxidative stress.
