Overview

Lactobacillus plantarum H6 is a specific strain of the species Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, a Gram-positive lactic acid bacterium widely recognized for its probiotic properties. While detailed clinical data on the unique characteristics of the H6 strain are limited in public sources, L. plantarum strains in general are known to modulate gut microbiota, enhance intestinal barrier function, and exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. These mechanisms contribute to potential benefits in metabolic health (such as improving obesity, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease), cardiovascular health (including cholesterol reduction), and immune modulation. The mechanism of action involves competitive exclusion of pathogens, production of beneficial metabolites like short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), regulation of cytokine production, enhancement of antioxidant enzyme activity, and modulation of bile acid metabolism[3][5][6]. L. plantarum strains are commonly used as probiotics in dietary supplements and functional foods.
