Overview

Lactobacillus plantarum HFY15 is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria that was originally isolated from naturally fermented yak yogurt in Sichuan, China. [3] This biologic agent is being investigated in preclinical studies for several therapeutic purposes, including secondary osteoporosis, acute liver injury, and lupus nephritis. [1, 3, 6] Its mechanism of action involves antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic effects, which are mediated through the regulation of multiple biological pathways like the TGF-β1, Wnt/β-catenin, and OPG/RANK/RANKL signaling pathways. [1, 3, 6] Research in animal models has demonstrated its ability to protect tissues from damage and reduce levels of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, TNF-α, and IFN-γ. [5, 6] It is currently considered a research compound primarily studied in academic settings, such as the Chongqing University of Education, and does not have a commercial brand name. [4]
