Lactobacillus plantarum LP0132 is a specific probiotic strain of the species *Lactiplantibacillus plantarum* (formerly *Lactobacillus plantarum*) that is being investigated as a live biotherapeutic for the management of cow's milk allergy (CMA). The strain was identified for its immunomodulatory properties, specifically its ability to promote the differentiation of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and restore the balance between Th1 and Th2 immune responses, which is typically skewed toward Th2 in allergic individuals. By modulating the gut microbiota and enhancing intestinal barrier function, LP0132 aims to induce oral tolerance to milk proteins and accelerate the acquisition of tolerance in pediatric patients. Clinical research, primarily conducted in China, has evaluated its efficacy as an adjunct to dietary avoidance or oral immunotherapy.
