Overview
Lactobacillus plantarum LP115 is a specific probiotic strain of the species Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (formerly classified as Lactobacillus plantarum), deposited at the DSMZ under number DSM22266. It is a live biotherapeutic product used primarily as a dietary supplement to support gastrointestinal health and immune function. Mechanistically, it acts by modulating the gut microbiota composition—promoting beneficial bacteria and suppressing pathogenic organisms—while also influencing immune responses through cytokine regulation (notably balancing IL-10/IL-12) and enhancing mucosal integrity. Clinical studies have shown that this strain can reduce symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), improve intestinal eubiosis, decrease inflammation associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, support cholesterol reduction, and potentially lower cardiovascular risk factors such as glucose and homocysteine levels in certain populations[3][4][5][6][7]. It has demonstrated high tolerance to acid and bile for survival in the gastrointestinal tract[6]. The strain is non-GMO and free from common allergens.
