Overview

Lactobacillus plantarum LPLDL is a patented probiotic strain developed by ProBiotix Health, a subsidiary of OptiBiotix Health. Originally isolated from vegetable juice and selected using the proprietary OptiScreen technology platform, this strain is characterized by its high bile salt hydrolase (BSH) activity and its ability to survive the harsh conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. Its primary mechanism of action involves the deconjugation of bile salts in the gut; because deconjugated bile salts are poorly reabsorbed, the liver is forced to utilize systemic cholesterol to synthesize new bile acids, thereby reducing circulating levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and total cholesterol. Clinical studies have demonstrated that LPLDL can significantly reduce multiple cardiovascular disease biomarkers, including LDL cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, and apolipoprotein B, in adults with hypercholesterolemia.
