**Lactobacillus reuteri + omeprazole** is a combination therapy comprised of a probiotic bacterium, *Lactobacillus reuteri*, and the proton pump inhibitor (PPI) omeprazole. This combination has been investigated for the treatment of *Helicobacter pylori* infection and peptic ulcer disease, particularly as an alternative to standard triple therapy which involves antibiotics. *L. reuteri* acts mainly by producing antimicrobial compounds (primarily reuterin) that inhibit the growth of *H. pylori* and other pathogens, while omeprazole suppresses gastric acid production, creating an environment hostile to *H. pylori* survival and facilitating probiotic colonization. Clinical trials suggest that this combination can reduce *H. pylori* load, improve gastrointestinal symptoms, and may increase eradication rates in some contexts, all while offering a favorable safety and tolerability profile[1][2][5].
