Overview

Lactobacillus reuteri CCFM1040 is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria isolated from unpasteurized milk. It is under investigation for its potential therapeutic effects on respiratory allergic diseases, such as allergic rhinitis and asthma. Clinical studies suggest that L. reuteri CCFM1040 may alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life in patients by modulating the gut microbiota and the host's immune system. Its mechanism is believed to involve the reduction of type 2 inflammation, partly by increasing the population of regulatory T cells (Treg cells), thereby supporting the "one airway, one disease" concept for treating concurrent allergic rhinitis and asthma.
