Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus rhamnosus ŁOCK 0908 is a specific, patented probiotic strain of Polish origin. It is not sold as a single-strain product but is a key component of the three-strain probiotic preparation Latopic®, which also contains Lactobacillus rhamnosus ŁOCK 0900 and Lactobacillus casei ŁOCK 0919. [7, 8] This combination product is intended for the dietary management of atopic dermatitis and food allergies, particularly cow's milk protein allergy, in infants and children. [5, 7] Clinical studies have shown that the mixture containing ŁOCK 0908 can alleviate symptoms of atopic dermatitis. [1, 5] The proposed mechanism of action involves modulating the host's immune system, strengthening the gut's epithelial barrier, and altering the composition of the gut microbiome. [1, 3] Specifically, the strain mixture has been shown to increase the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines like IL-10, reinforce intestinal tight junctions, and produce lactic acid to inhibit pathogenic microbes. [1, 3] The product is manufactured by Biomed S.A. in Poland. [8]
